Cookridge Hall Golf Club receives EGU/EWGA High Achiever GolfMark Award
Cookridge Hall Golf Club has been awarded High Achiever GolfMark accreditation through their 3 year reassessment to retain the award, demonstrating their hard work and dedication to both junior and beginners golf.
The English Golf Union (EGU) and English Womens’ Golf Association (EWGA) developed the GolfMark award to identify and acknowledge golf facilities in England that were junior and beginner friendly
At the 3 year review the junior friendly club was found to have all the elements in place to enable youngsters to access golf from the primary school age groups and for youngsters to be supported at the Golf Club at all levels up to and including those youngsters who represent Leeds and District and Yorkshire.
The award was presented by Richard Brown, Regional Development Officer for the English Golf Partnership in Yorkshire, to Rob Trainor, captain of Cookridge Hall Golf Club at the club, on the day when the Leeds and District Junior team championship was held at Cookridge Hall Golf Club. In the circumstances it was highly appropriate that Cookridge Hall juniors won the competition with a level par gross score of 144.
Richard Brown commented:
‘I am delighted that Cookridge Hall Golf Club has been reassessed at the highest standard but I am not surprised. They have an excellent system of support for all youngsters from beginners through to low handicap juniors. Their work with schools is particularly outstanding. All this is of great credit to the Club and particularly to the team of people involved, who are expertly coordinated by Cheryl Pawley, the award winning junior organiser. This is all underpinned by a very supportive Membership, Coaching and Management Team within the club.’
